Royal St. George's College Admissions Requirements
Toronto, Ontario
Entry Requirements by Grade
Royal St. George's College identifies Grades 3, 7 and 9 as its main entry years. Applications may also be accepted for other grades depending on available space.
| Entry Year | Academic Assessment | Other Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Grade 3 | Literacy and numeracy evaluated during the interview | Student and parent interview, report cards and supporting documents |
| Grade 7 | Mathematics and literacy assessment with multiple-choice and short-answer questions | Student and parent interview |
| Grade 9 | Mathematics and literacy assessment with multiple-choice and short-answer questions | Student and parent interview |
Entrance Assessment
For Grades 3 through 6, literacy and numeracy are evaluated during the applicant's interview rather than through the separate Grade 7 and Grade 9 entrance test.
For Grades 7 and 9, applicants complete an age-appropriate assessment focused on mathematics and literacy. The test includes multiple-choice and short-answer questions. RSGC states that no special preparation is required.
RSGC collaborates with Crescent School and The York School, so applicants applying to multiple schools in the group need to write the Grade 7 or Grade 9 assessment only once.
Admissions Process
Applicants submit an online application, two years of year-end report cards, the most recent current-year report, identification, and educational or psychological assessments where applicable.
The interview is divided into approximately 30 minutes with the applicant alone, followed by approximately 20 minutes with the parents.
Key Insights
Grades 3, 7 and 9 are RSGC's main entry years.
Grades 7 and 9 share a common entrance test with Crescent and York. The assessment focuses on mathematics and literacy and combines multiple-choice with short-answer questions.
Grade 3 follows a different model. Academic skills are assessed as part of the interview rather than through the separate entrance test used in Grades 7 and 9.
The interview is a substantial component of the process. RSGC publishes separate interview time for the applicant and parents.
