Entry Requirements by Grade

For day applicants, UCC publishes dedicated admissions processes for Junior Kindergarten, Year 3, Year 5, Year 6, Year 7 and Year 9. Other grades are handled through separate admissions processes and may have fewer available spaces.

Entrance Assessment

For Years 3, 5 and 6, UCC uses an academic assessment focused on reading, writing and mathematics. The school states that the assessment takes approximately 20 minutes. UCC's published sample question formats include basic numerical reasoning and vocabulary or sentence-completion questions.

For Years 7 and 9, applicants complete an online academic assessment focused on language and mathematics. UCC's published examples include vocabulary questions and numerical relationship problems.

UCC does not currently publish a complete syllabus, total number of questions or full practice assessment for Years 7 and 9 on its admissions pages.

Admissions Process

Applicants complete an online application and submit the supporting materials required for their entry year. For the school-age entry years, UCC's application checklist includes supporting documents and a teacher reference. Applicants then complete the required academic assessment and group activity.

Selected candidates are invited to an interview that includes both a student interview and a parent/guardian interview. UCC states that the conversation helps the school understand the student's strengths, needs, potential for success and alignment with UCC's values.

Junior Kindergarten follows a different process. Applicants participate in an age-appropriate group activity, after which parents or guardians of selected candidates are invited to an interview.
